Conan O Brien

My satellite is almost fixed . Soon I will be able to watch all my favorite TV shows . Lately , I am not watching too much. In fact , I missed the late night talk shows of Jay , Dave , Jimmy and Conan Conan can be a very funny guy . He's supposed to be Jay's replacement after Mr. Leno steps down. I think he has about 4 years left on his contract. That will be something . His brand of humor is different from Jay. Conan used to write for SNL so the young people can identify with his jokes. I like the portion of his show when Conan combines the features of 2 celebrities to predict how their baby will look like. That's a riot all the time !

Desperate Shows

I heard on the radio that the show , The One , registered a dismal rating for its initial show. In fact , it is said rating was the lowest for any ABC show ever . What say you ? The reality show was terrible . Let's see if it will pick up in the next few weeks.
Also in ' desperate ' position is Desperate Housewives. Not really. It dlipped in ratings. I remember the time that me and the wife will hurry up to finish what we are doing so that we can watch the show Sunday night. It was so hot then , the show's stars were everywhere. In mags , talk shows and other events . The writer , Cherry , announced that this season would have a hostage situ in a supermarket. One of the housewive is supposed to die . Who is it ? You're guess is as good as mine.

Miss Universe

Me and my wife watched this show last night . I would say, we totally enjoyed it. I don't usually enjoy such shows but last night was different . The wife guessed correctly the top 5 positions . Miss Japan is really pretty . Too bad she lost. Miss Puerto Rico won. Isn't Puerto Rico one of the countries where beauty contest is a cottage industry ? The other one I think in Venezuela. These 2 places start them young and train their young women how to be a beauty queen . Plastic surgery included. Donald Trump , the pageant chairman , has another prospect . A future Mrs. Trump no.? I lost count of how many wives Trump has.xx

Luv Those Chick Flicks

The shows last night were terrific. First , I watched ' Tootsie ' wth Dustin Hoffman . It was an old film but what a movie . I enjoyed the theme song a lot. I intend to download it. ' It Must Be You ' is a nice song. But if you like a movie with a lot of great songs , the next movie was full of memorable music. It's ' My Best Friend's Wedding ' . It's a Julia Roberts starrer . I remember that movie very well. First time that I saw Justin Timberlake's GF. The sounds was something else. It took a long time before I erased the music from my mind especially that ' You Don't Know Me ' version by Tony Bennett. For a long time , I was so in love. Ha , to be in love again .

The One

I watched this ABC Reality Show cum Talent Show last night and was completely dissapointed . It 's supposed to steal some of Amercan Idol's glory . Sorry but the contestants of AI are much more pure. The producers of this show surely know that part of AI 's appeal is the auditions complete with goofy wanna bes. Then the choosing of the top 10. By this time , you 'kinda developed some affinity with the idol hopefuls. ABC's show formula is straight to the 10 contestants . It not right , I think. Can the show !

Fact And Film

One of the most satisfying way of watching TV movies is watching the story presented in facts normally a documentary , followed by the movie version. I remember watching The Gangs Of New York with Leonardo DiCaprio this way. The documentary about the Real Gangs Of New York was shown complete with discussions . The people tackled the parts of the movie ' which are embellished or subjected to artistic freedom ' . After that , I borrowed a book on the same subject. My knowledge about the Gangs is complete .

Bravo Channel

This channel shows some good indy films . Of course , the old films are their forte . Before they coined the world indy films , what do the industry people call it ? Independent films I guess. Indy for short . Some of the best films I've seen this year are foreign films . It can be trying at times reading those sub titles but some foreign films shown on TV are brilliant . Of course , when seen on regular TV , the sub titles are a lot smaller . That's when the big screen tv helps .My only problem is that , you have to be attentive all the time . You cannot close your eyes at length or you'll lose the story . That's why I don't watch films w/ subtitles when I feel sleepy .

Waiting For Sattelite

Still no sat service. I just satisfy myself by watching cable. Of course the pick is limited to regular networks offerings. It's good a lot of things are happening in the world . Sometimes BBC gives the best perspective of the news . CNN tells the news with the American slant . It's just my opinion. An office trainee of ours who is from Dubai told me so. Hate to admit it guys , he's right. We have our own Al Jazzera here !

It's a Toshiba 60 inch TV . I bought it some 4 years ago at a discount because it's a display item. I love this TV . Especially when I am watching a movie with my family . I like the feel of the cinemahouse . One time , I planned to transfer this to the basement and build a mini theater complete with chairs and sound system . Some other time .
